Nesher Community is more than an online school, it is a community. Signup is free so you can join the conversation right now. While taking a class, you can interact with other students, get personalized feedback, discuss questions, and brainstorm new ideas with our advanced communication features.

Our plan is to facilitate a variety of approaches to both learning and teaching. You will find that some courses are ready to go, beginning to end, at your pace. Other planned classes will be offered live, right here on Nesher. We are also working on an innovative approach that directly involves learners in course development before a course is planned.

rethinking reboot

After JMG's rise to b-list TikTok status, they formed Nesher Community during the COVID-19 pandemic as a place to spiritually grow and learn. After the first Nesher closed, Stella Maris was formed on Discord as a space for Christians and seekers to connect online. Handing off that project to very capable leadership, JMG has been yearning for the return of Nesher, and they were not alone. This project was launched with the support of generous donors, including Rebecca R especially.

JMG's vision for Nesher is to build a permanent space for radically inclusive learning, especially of biblical languages and Christian spirituality and mysticism.

What's up with the bird?

Nesher (נשר) means "vulture" in Hebrew, and it symbolizes the mothering and protective nature of God. In most English Bibles, nesher is rendered "eagle" to cater to western animal symbolism. Vultures are a critical part of the global ecosystem. They eat dead things before they become vectors of disease. As such, they serve a naturally protective purpose for human and animal life.
